308 HG Hertford - Horns Mill - Bayford - Cuffley Station (- Goffs Oak)
The 308 and 308A are a pair of rural routes south-west of Hertford. They climb up away from the county market town into leafy, hilly countryside dotted with villages. At Epping Green the routes divide, the 308A heading north-west to Little Berkhampstead (Little Berkhamsted), while the 308 heads south over more rolling hills to reach Cuffley, terminating at the station. From October 1967 it was extended on to reach Goffs Oak. The 308 was a large saloon route, operated by Hertford-based Leyland Tiger TF buses before crew-operated RFs took over in May 1953. One man operated RFs made them more economically viable from July 1956. But they were operated by GSs at times, notably while the RWs were working the 333 in 1962-3.
