GS RoutesThe routes that the GS class worked were scattered around the edges of the LT system. The numbers and routes changed as attempts were made to make them economic, with routes being combined and cropped. Some routes were speculative ventures to meet specific requests, and some thrived while others wilted. The development of the New Towns around London, and the growth of suburbia, gave opportunities for growth that often resulted in larger vehicles replacing the GSs. The Green Belt around London provided some shelter for the little buses.This list of routes on which GSs were used is not exhaustive. It is based on photographic evidence, but not all the photos are dated, and some inferences have been drawn about the other ends of the routes from those shown on the blinds. Some were normally RF routes, onto which GSs might occasionally stray. Click on the route number below to see more information about each route. As I complete them they will show a route diagram, information on dates and buses used, and photos of preserved buses working on the routes or displaying appropriate blinds.
