Amber Coaches: Dennis Dart SLF

Nimbuses

Amber Caetano sketch Amber Coaches, of Rayleigh in Essex, took over four routes around Brentwood and Thurrock: the 261 (Brentwood - Blackmore) on an emergency contract from mid-July 2013, after Regal Busways deregistered it; the 265 (Lakeside - Grays - Bulphan - Brentwood - Pilgrim's Hatch) from mid-August , after First Capital East deregistered it; the 268 (Blackmore - Grays (college days)) and the 269 (Brentwood - Grays) from 1st September after they were given up by Travel with Hunny.

Four ex-Mitcham Belle Dart SLFs, 10.5m Nimbuses, with varied intermediate histories, were acquired during the summer and early autumn. They went into service in their dealer white, with Ambus fleetnames on the front and www.ambercoachesltd.co.uk on the cantrail in red. A further two, again both ex Mitcham Belle Nimbuses, were acquired in March 2014. I suspect that all this batch were taken on from Dawson Rentals.

The shoebox

In March 2014 Amber bought an elderly Mark 1 Pointer that had been 210 in the Brighton Hove and District fleet. I have yet to see any pictures of it in service with Amber, so wonder if it was bought for spares, or as a spare bus for use if required.

MPDs

Also in spring 2014, Amber bought three MPDs that had been with Go-Ahead Northern. All three were in lime-coloured base coat, and retained that in service witrh Amber. They were to take over routes 11 and 374 from Imperial Buses, from 1st April 2014.
