Back in 1993/4 Newport Transport bought several Scania N113s with Alexander Strider bodywork. These eventually were replaced, and at least five ended up with Centrebus or its subsidiary Bowers Transport in Derbyshire. L170EKG came earliest to Luton-Dunstable, acquiring Centrebus orange/white/blue livery. It was used on the company's longer distance services, such as the X31 between Hemel Hempstead, Luton and Milton Keynes. Four more followed in the following years, arriving from Bowers or its succsessor High Peak. They acquired a variety of liveries: full Centrebus orange/white/blue, or white with bliue skirt, or red with blue skirt. They were used on the X31, and also the 34 from Dunstable to St.Albans, the 366 to South Hatfield and the 901/903 to Putteridge Bury. Use on Luton town service 10 was also seen. The latest arrivals were all sold in February 2015: they were 21/22 years old, so presumably went for scrap (unless you know otherwise?). The first to arrive was last to go, 710 being the last step-entrance bus in the fleet, and lasting until it could not legally continue. It was sold privately in April 2016.
By then there were plenty of other Scanias in the Centrebus fleets - by now low-floor versions.
