BTS Scania

BTS (Borehamwood Travel Services) had acquired route 292 (Borehamwood - Edgware) in February 1988, after the strike by employees of London Country North East. BTS had maintained a replacement service on the route during the strike, and when the contract was taken away from LCNE they were awarded it. They acquired second-hand Leyland Nationals to operate it, then replaced those with Atlanteans second-hand from Yorkshire Woollen District early in 1989. But if they were to retain the contract they needed something better than thirteen-year old buses. They arrived in the shape of six Scanias with Alexander bodywork, in June 1989.

The 292 was their normal place of operation, but Boxing Day contracts in 1989 saw them at Heathrow Airport on the 140 and Golders Green on the 183.

BTS lost the 292 from 3rd December 1993, and just prior to that they sold all six of the Scanias to Midland Fox. (The intermediate period saw hired Merobuses from West Midlands Travel fill the gap left by their departure).
