The Tunnel STLs

Bus Histories

These histories are far from complete, and may contain inaccuracies. They are being compiled from a variety of sources, which do not always agree, as snippets become available. Contributions welcome.

There were 40 tunnel STLs originally, with no spare bodies. It seems that only 39 bodies survived through the war, that from STL1862 being completely destroyed. Two others (STL1851, 1854) had to be sent away for serious repair and were later remounted on other chassis: STL834 and STL2437, whilst the chassis went under other types of spare body.
