London & Country 517-520, LSL 5-9

London & Country was very tentative in its approach to low-floor single-deckers, despite having Dennis on its patch. Just four were delivered in January 1995, two each to Guildford and Leatherhead for the 408 (West Croydon - Guildford). 517-520 were forty seater single-doorway Dennis Lance SLFs. They arrived dressed in London & Country's superb apple green livery with dark green skirt and red band. A fifth, numbered LSL 9, followed at the end of 1995.

Perhaps London & Country's level of satisfaction with the type can be discerned from their 1996 order - for step-entrance Dennis Lances.

Arriva Guildford and West Surrey managed to dispose of four of them in April 2001, after just six years. All except LSL8 went to Arriva North West. LSL8 was retained for Guildford easy-access services. At some time it lost the nice livery in favour of bland Arriva corporate blue and cream, and was renumbered again as 3018. It was variously stationed at Guildford and Cranleigh.

In April 2006 3018 was transferred to Arriva Kent & Sussex at Tunbridge Wells. There it undertook a variety of duties, even appearing on the 402 to Bromley.
