Loughton Classic Bus Running DaySunday 11th September 2011Prepared by Ian Smith, 26th September 2011167A: Loughton Stn to Abridge and back: RT3062At last, at ten to six, RT3062 came off the central stance and went round the bus station to load up for the evening run on the 167A to Abridge. It was pursued up the bus station by departing DLA359 (again) on the 20.We loaded up, and departed, up the bank to Loughton High Road, and left up onto the heights of Buckhurst Hill. We turned downhill towards Buckhurst Hill Station, where we called in for a brief photo-stop. Then it was on down into the Roding Valley, under the M11 and up Chigwell Rise. A right turn took us towards Chigwell Station, where we made a clockwise evolution round the triangle to pull up at the station stop by the shops, pointing north. While we were stopped at Chigwell Station one of the newest buses on the modern 167 route, Blue Triangle's EnviroDart SE30 came past, heading for Loughton and Debden. We then headed north for Abridge, through the rapidly descending dusk. At Abridge we stopped in front of the Blue Boar, and everyone had to alight for the reverse turn manoevre. The bus pulled off the main road, straight ahead into Silver Street, then reversed round the corner beside the Blue Boar into Tree Close under the supervision of our conductor, Peter Larkham. This created considerable interest in the Blue Boar, and even more in the next-door Chinese Restaurant. I climbed back aboard for the ride back past Chigwell Station, Buckhurst Hill Station to Loughton Station. There were photo stops, but I didn't even try under these light conditions. I was tired, and content... Part 6: Garage Run.All photos by Ian Smith. Click on any of them for a larger picture. Ian's Bus-stop Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6
