RT3254's next turn was on the 384B to Letchworth Station and back, to the very furthest northern outpost of London Transport. With the blinds wound on, the bus was pulled round beside RT1700 for photos to be taken.
My connection back to Hertford at 12.00 was supposed to be on BL49, which arrived just before the hour. RT1700 was going back anyway, so I climbed aboard the RT for the trip.
We roared off. Down the main A602. No messing about wriggling through Broadwater. We headed down past Bragbury End, and soon reached the Watton north roundabout. We pulled off the main road onto the old route through the village.
Roger drew up outside the Bull for a photo stop. Then we were off again, south and east onto the main road, and down the A119 through Stapleford and Waterford to Hertford North. We made our way into Hertford and to the bus station, where I dashed off to find something to eat at the excellent cafe.
Greenline Routemaster RCL2260 was also there for an extra on the 341.
Parked across on the other side of the Bus Station was GS62, between turns on the 388.
I set off to look for my next ride, and met RT113 coming in to the Bus Station, arriving back from a trip to Nazingwood Common on the 327, the route that sister wartime 2RTs came to Hertford to operate.
Now where would I meet RF48?....
