422 LH Leatherhead Station - Leatherhead - Headley - Pebblecombe - Boxhill (Greenacres)

The 422 was unusual in that it missed most of the places on its outward journey blind! From Leatherhead Station it headed through the town, then climbed out of town south-eastwards, serving the houses up the hill. It then took the country B-road up a combe behind Box Hill, to reach the Headley Road just beyond the village. Turning right, it followed the road along to another junction, just outside Pebblecombe. Turning right again, it headed for Box Hill. But rather than go right along to the top, it stopped at Greenacres (the only point reached on the blind). There it did a reverse turn into a side road, ready for the return journey.

The 416 also reached Greenacres from Leatherhead, but that was a longer RF route running between Esher and Tadworth, and DID go through Headley and Pebblecombe!

GS2 stands at Dorking in August 2002, ready for a commemorative trip to Box Hill.
The 422 was a mixed-allocation route, using Leatherhead RFs for the peak journeys (two of which went beyond Leatherhead, one to Oxshott and one to Esher) while a Leatherhead GS did some of the journeys during the day.
