333 HG 333 HG Hertford - Bengeo - Chapmore End
GS buses from Hertford garage took over the 333 from Leyland Cubs in November 1953.
The 333 in GS days was a Hertford town route, working round from the bus station, through the town,
then up the hill to the housing estates of Bengeo.
Some journeys worked on, doubling the length of the route, to Chapmore End. This extension was of a very different character:
beyond suburban Bengeo it was quickly and deeply rural, with an approach to Chapmore End up a long and very narrow lane.
Chapmore End was - and is - delightful. For an account of a trip to Chapmore End on GS2, click here.
GS62 waits in Hertford Bus Station for a short working to Bengeo (Parker Avenue), during the June 2002 Running Day.The 333B was a hospital service, connecting Hertford with the old Ware Park Sanatorium, now Ware Park Hospital. More scenes from the June 2002 Running Day: GS62 leaves Hertford Bus Station for Chapmore End, and GS2 on a 388 pulls out past GS1 waiting for a turn to Bengeo.AllocationBuses for the 333 were taken from the large Hertford allocation. One man operated RFs took over from Octopber 1957.
