The Southdown Titan was not going out for about an hour, and the Maidstone & District Titan had just departed. By the time that we parked the RT so had the Lion and Eastbourne 67. But Eastbourne 42 came in, heading for The Redoubt on route6.
I hopped on Eastbourne 42, which promptly set off for The Redoubt. It wound down through the town to the Promenade, and turned left, along towards The Redoubt and Butterfly Centre. We passed No67 heading west for the Foot of Beachy Head. No.42 squeezed round the turning triangle, and pulled up at the stop for lots of photos.
Then we headed west along the Promenade, towards the Pier. No42 produced all sorts of lovely RLH-type noises as we went. I sat inside and enjoyed the ride. We paused at the pier, then continued along towards the Foot of Beachy Head. As we approached we could see No12 and No67 waiting on the stand to return to town, so stopped at the last stop to avoid clogging up the turning triangle.
I alighted from No42 and crossed the road towards No12 and No67.
No67 was having some trouble: it had thrown quite a bit of water out of the radiator, indicating that something was hotter than it should have been. The crew decided to take it out of service, but to run it back to the station anyway. The Lion staggered off with a full load, and I climbed aboard 67 and went upstairs to the front for the relatively short ride back to the station.
Back at Eastbourne Station I watched RF679 come down to load for another departure to the Miniature Railway, and Eastbourne Buses' restored No11 came in to unload, and then after a trip round the block, to load again.
I still had some time to spare before my next duty, so went looking for the Maidstone & District Titan...
