We set off down the dip, and up the other side. At the next junction we met STL2377, out for the day on the 77.
We headed on north on the six-minute run to Hackbridge, where we turned round the block onto the stance in Elm Road. There we waited for the nominal five minute turn-round time, including changing the blinds.
We set off south again, wondering where passengers ARE allowed on. (The stance in Elm Road is not a joining point, and there don't seem to be any stops southwatrds for a considerable distance). We passed through Wallington again, with some passenger interchange, and headed south on Woodcote Road. We turned east onto Foxley Lane and ran down the long hill into Purley, where we came to a stand in the High Street. Sunday afternoon traffic conditions precluded our run up Old Lodge Lane.
After our five minute stand we continued round Purleyt's traffic system and began the slog back up out of the valley to Woodcote, where we turned right for the run down into Wallington. As we came to the junction at the top of Manor Road, Wallington, Saunders RT3062 pulled round the corner from the Waddon direction, heading for St.Helier.
I alighted from the RF and walked round the block looking for the Shotfield bus park. I found the buses, including RT3148, but not an open public toilet. I wasn't desperate, but it was a long way to Tonbridge! Someone suggested the supermarket, so I set off back across the junction in search of it. On my way back I met DM2646, terminating on the 154.
Back in Shotfield I found RT604 being prepared for its next trip to West Croydon.
Behind RT604 stood RTW467, which had arrived on the 77B from Mitcham.
RT3148 was parked behind the wide-boy, and I went over to find my place for the two-hour trip back to Tonbridge...
